This weather – good grief!

We were due to go to the opening of an art exhibition followed by a concert this evening at a beautiful local chateau near les Eyzies, called the Chateau de Campagne. The artist is one of the neighbours who was at the ‘repas des voisins’ last Sunday and I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately however, I’ve just received an email to say that it’s had to be cancelled.

The reason? The area has been put under a ‘code orange’ storm alert with rain, high winds and hail forecast so the organisers of the event have been advised to be prudent and not allow it to go ahead, with the chateau itself being closed to visitors at 4.00 pm.

We had another wet night again last night, but mercifully without the crashing thunder that we had to endure on the two or three previous nights leading up to it, so I at least managed to sleep through. But what the heck’s going on with the weather? I can’t remember an early summer like this since I’ve been here as we’re usually enjoying fair weather by now. Personally I can’t wait for the much discussed global warming to kick in…
