After a few days back in the UK I was at last able to finish off fitting my Savannah’s new screen by applying silicone sealant around its base on the outside and a small amount of black acrylic sealant in the centre of its base inside the cabin. The trick when applying any sealant with a sealant gun and then smoothing it to finish it off is to know when to stop as the chance is the more you fiddle with it trying to make the finish better the more the chance is you will mess it up by spreading the sealant beyond the area where it’s supposed to be.
I’m happy with the results and I don’t think the screen will be able to move in flight from the force of the air as it’ll be pushed even tighter backwards than I’ve managed to achieve when I fitted it and I couldn’t get it to move any more with all the effort I could muster. However, only flying the aircraft will tell and that after many weeks (months actually) won’t be before next week as the sealant has to cure after which it’s forecast that we’ll have a few rainy days. I’m looking forward to it whenever it is 🙂
