I’m back on my Savannah. Today I gave it a good wash and put its battery on charge as it was down to 60% and turned the engine over but not fast enough to start it. Tomorrow I’ll run the engine for the first time in many weeks and then take its screen out as the small cracks that I found have increased a bit in length, presumably because of the intense heat that we’ve been having and also because it has become a bit more hazy.

I have a roll of polycarbonate that I brought with me from the UK when I moved to France all those (14!!) years ago. I bought it when I replaced my old AX3 MYRO’s screen way back before I left the UK for France. When it was delivered one corner that would have intruded into the finished screen had been scratched and the supplier told me to keep it and sent me a replacement roll.

I’d forgotten about it when I had to make screens for the French AX3, 28AAD, that I rebuilt and also the Savannah whose screen was damaged by spilt fuel 10 years ago but I think it should be OK for a new screen for the Savannah which I think is smaller than the AX3’s. Anyway, that’s the plan and if everything goes smoothly the new screen should be in by the week-end. If not…
